Description
In 2016 Montblanc commemorates William Shakespeare with Montblanc’s newest Writers Edition collection. The pen is made from black and white resin as a reference to the colors of the flags that were raised above Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London in keeping with no matter what genre used to be to be played (black for a tragedy and white for a comedy). The body of the pen with the guilloche engraving refers back to the quill pens Shakespeare used to put in writing his works with, the clip ring represents the earring Shakespeare wore, the cap shows a most sensible view of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. The gold band on the pen carries embossed symbols of his seven so much famous plays: a skull for Hamlet, chess pieces for King Lear, a rose and dagger for Romeo and Juliet, a crest for Henry V, a crown for MacBeth, a swirling cloud for The Tempest and a laurel wreath within the type of a “C” for Julius Caesar. The signature of the famous playwright can also be found on the cap and an engraving of the Globe Theatre embellishes the 18 karat gold nib of the piston fountain pen. The set is composed of a fountain pen, rollerball pen and mechanical pencil.
